Meet Brian Patrick Lauten: A Distinguished Trial Lawyer with Over Two Decades of Excellence

Brian Patrick Lauten stands as a formidable figure in the realm of business and commercial litigation. With more than 23 years of courtroom experience, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to delivering justice for his clients. Holding both a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Lauten is one of the few attorneys nationwide to be triple board-certified in civil trial law, civil pretrial practice, and civil trial advocacy by both the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

A Proven Track Record in High-Stakes Litigation

Lauten's legal acumen is reflected in his extensive experience, having served as lead counsel in over 30 civil jury trials. His expertise spans various areas, including business torts, fiduciary litigation, commercial disputes, employment law, and legal malpractice. Notably, he argued the landmark Title VII retaliation case, Nassar v. University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, before the U.S. Supreme Court in 2013, setting a significant precedent in employment law.

Beyond his practice, Lauten contributes to the legal community through education and scholarship. He has served as a course director and instructor for the Texas State Bar's continuing legal education seminars on topics such as business torts and advanced civil trial techniques.
